Playlinda Beach

Playlinda Beach is my all time favorite of the Florida Beaches! If you have never had the opportunity to take a trip to Florida, I suggest you find a way to make a trip happen as soon as possible as there are so many, many fantastic beaches to visit!

Over the course of the years, my family and I have had the opportunity to take a family vacation in Florida,
During the spring or the winter!
We have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to vacation on both the Gulf coast and Atlantic coasts.

Both have much to offer but, our favorite beach is found near a little town called Titusville Florida, located on the Atlantic coast of Florida very near many of the state's favorite vacation destinations. Playlinda Beach is located on the Cape Canaveral National Seashore.

This Florida beach stretches over two miles in length and actually offers twelve different beach parking areas. All of the areas have restroom facilities available and easy access to the ocean. The sand is fine and white with very wide beach space for lots of great beach activities. The water is a beautiful mix of dark blue, light green and aqua. Water temperature varies with the time of your visit but, later in the summer is probably the warmest it will get.

It is not unusual to see dolphins playing a few hundred yards off the shore. The beach also offers protected areas for sea turtles to come ashore and lay their eggs. The beach abounds with activity from surfers, kite flyers, children making sand castles, adults taking a stroll, people of all ages in for a swim and many, many sun bathers soaking up the warm Florida sun.

There is a daily charge of $5.00 per car load to enter the National Seashore but, you can buy an annual pass for $20.00, which can be used for any facility operated by the United Sates National Park System. If you are a senior, 62+, you get even a better deal, as a lifetime pass is only $10.00.

As you can see, the cost to visit my favorite Florida each is very reasonable. The park is open daily from daylight to dusk so you have plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing day on the beach. If you plan to spend several days in the area, there are many, many other activities you can enjoy.

Anyone familiar with our space program has probably heard of the Kennedy Space Center, which is located just minutes from Playlinda. Actually, as you enter the beach area, you will see launch pads to your right where our shuttle program launches!

Another activity close to Playlinda......as you enter the National Seashore, is a wildlife refuge drive that goes for about ten miles, winding through lush Florida scenery. Along the drive you will see many different species of birds and water turtles. In addition, there is a lookout area where you can observe bald eagles as they go about their daily activities. During the months of February and March, you are most likely to see numerous alligators of varying sizes swimming in the water along the shore of the drive or they may just be laying in the warm sun on a bank along the way. When you complete the drive, you can make a short trip to an electric generation plant that offers a great opportunity to view giant manatees as they play in the warm water provided by the generation facility. If you have never had the opportunity to see manatees in their natural habitat, you are missing something very special as it is mesmerizing to see such large creatures glide effortlessly through the water.

Once you have left the general area of the Cape Canaveral National Seashore, there are many, many other activities to enjoy. If you were to stay in Titusville, hotels ranging in price from around $60 per day and up. The drive to Orlando, Florida is only 40 minutes away., to Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Lego Land, and Orlando Predator Arena, just to name a few.

If you're a golfer, there's 50 golf courses located within a twenty mile radius of Orlando. Actually, if you can't find something fun to do in the area, you are really in need of some counseling! After reading about the multitude of things to do at our favorite beach and the surrounding area, I am guessing you may be getting a good understanding of why a trip to the Cape Canaveral National Seashore is a great thing to do for couples or families. Happy vacationing at Playlinda Beach!
